Unique Identites in Reflection – Week 5

This week I reflected on my unique identity as a creative practitioner, to do this I answered a set of questions ↓

Questionnaire

What subjects or topics are you naturally drawn to?

(What do you discuss with friends? What podcasts do you listen to? What YouTube holes do you go down? What movies, documentaries or books interest you?)

I am interested in fiction podcasts, dystopian books and movies, and Bad movie reviews.

What is it about your chosen topic/s that interests you?

Podcast

I like being immersed in the worlds they create. It feels like watching TV with no pictures and doesn’t sound as stiff as an audiobook.
Also, I can easily multitask while listening.

Books and Movies

I enjoy various types of books and movies but dystopian books and movies in particular make me realise that we could end up in similar situations if enough people in power collectively agreed something wrong was right. That is a truly terrifying thought.

Bad Movies reviews

Other than saving me time, these reviews while comedic also open my eyes to new perspectives of the media I consume.

Name an artist or a piece of work that you can relate to?

Can’t Help Myself by Sun Yuan & Peng Yu

Why do you relate to this artist/piece of work?

Original Response

There isn’t a specific reason I relate to this artwork it just always evokes strong emotions in me when I see it.

Additional Response

It is surreal to feel sympathy for a robot arm while being completely aware that even though it looks ‘exhausted’ it is impossible to feel emotion. That is something I have always found interesting.

What emotions or experiences do you want to explore?

Original Response

I’m not sure yet
